Work addiction, isolation, death of the office – and that’s for starters!

Just heard from my publisher that my long-awaited (at least by me) book “The Digital Workplace – How Technology is Liberating Work” has gone live in paperback and e-version on Amazon and other reputable outlets. What has amazed me is how much attention it has already created within the likes of Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Citi, Nokia – plus Yammer , Drop Box and Jive

Already the media seem to be very drawn to many of the hot topics – work addiction, isolation, death of the office, managing by results. Fascinating that coverage ranges already from Gigaom, CNN Money to Real Estate – seems the Digital Workplace is touching all our lives (inside and outside work).

The book has been almost two years  in the writing phase so why I ask myself is the topic of the future of work everywhere right now? Pace of technology adoption, arrival of tablets, impact of social media on younger hires, virtual working coming of age, economic models that seem broken, start-ups that outpace household names several fold in valuations, manufacturing in revolution……….in the end hard to say exactly  but it is like every business change points to a new landscape and geography of work – enabled through technology.

So why is the digital workplace/ future of work everywhere right now do you think?
